OUR IMPACT
Bristol Energy Network has been working and connecting with our local communities for over 10 years.
In this time, our programmes we’ve developed with members have brought us closer to communities, giving us unique perspective on the barriers they may face when participating in the energy transition movement.
Read on for three key ways we’ve delivered impact in the community…
OUR PLACE IN THE COMMUNITY
900 people engaged in 2023
Our Energy Help Desks allow us to engage hundreds of local residents and members of community groups across Bristol and the West of England. Not only have we helped to train over 150 participants in basic DIY retrofit skills they can apply to their homes, we also learn and understand more about what our communities need.
The Lawrence Weston Community Turbine
In 2023, our founder, Dave Tudgey, helped to realise the largest turbine in England.
Based in Lawrence Weston, the Ambition Community Turbine - a partnership with Ambition Lawrence Weston, Community Power Solutions, and BEN, generates up to 4.2 MW of power.
The energy the turbine produces is going directly into Ambition Lawrence Weston’s community projects.
Over 40 member organisations
BEN is bolstered by over 40 member organisations and community groups.
Every aspect of our programme delivery involves our members, helping us to build resilient connections, as well as guiding us as we help more communities participate in a Just Energy Transition.
